Buying Olive Oil Online: How to Order Without Risking Quality

Buying Olive Oil Online: How to Order Without Risking Quality
Contents

Buying olive oil online saves time, but you lose the chance to see and taste the product. A few checks before you press the order button will protect you from disappointment.

Check the producer, not just the website

A reseller can sell any brand. A producer answers for its own product. On the website you should find the address of the mill, a direct contact and information about the olive groves. Shkrela produces in Fier, with groves in the hills of Ardenica, and every customer can call the number shown on the site.

Look for these four details in the product description

  • The grade: extra virgin, clearly stated
  • The origin of the olives, not the place of packing
  • The maximum acidity
  • The type of packaging and the volume

If one of them is missing, ask before you order.

Packaging for shipping

Glass breaks, so it needs protection with foam or reinforced cardboard. For orders abroad, tins are a practical choice because they protect the oil from light and weigh less. We pack every shipment with cushioning materials and send it through international partners, usually with final delivery by your country’s local postal service.

How much should you order?

Work out your consumption. A family of four uses about one litre a week. Buying larger quantities lowers the cost per litre and the shipping cost, but the oil should be used within 18 months. The 3 L size suits families, while 0.5 L and 0.75 L bottles work well as gifts. See our products and sizes.

International delivery

The Albanian diaspora in Italy, Germany, Greece, the UK and the USA orders regularly. Shipments are handled by international partners. For countries outside the European Union, customs duties may apply and are paid by the buyer. Write to us for costs and delivery times to your country.
